This is such a beautiful coat. In particular, the cut is really well-done; the front panels fall straight down the body. People seem to stare for a few extra seconds as you walk down the street, simply because the silhouette is so attractive. The coat is not meant to be worn to "bundle" you up with all your layers underneath (it is meant to be a slim fit). Further, it actually has some structure—I do not like to sit down while wearing it for fear of creasing the wool in the wrong places.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the upper body (shoulders, arm holes, armpit area) run small, so if you have thicker arms, wider shoulders or a larger chest, definitely try it on in the store. I am 5-8 and have thin arms, athletic shoulders, and a flat chest and wear a size 8. (A size 6 is too small).
The coat is very warm, which is surprising, given that it's just a single layer of wool (and is lined). I wore a thin sweater underneath while walking around New York in the winter and was just fine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SHPR Arm Holes are Tight
I am 5'3" and normally wear a six in most jackets and blazers. I have thin arms and I purchased the 6 and there is plenty of room in the back and the cut is beautiful, unfortunately, the arm holes are very small and the coat is very uncomfortable. Because the arm holes are cut so tight, it is making the jacket pull in the front. I have noticed this problem in many coats this season from JCREW. I ordered the size 8, but have a feeling it is going to be way to big every where else.
Other than the arm holes, the coat is classic and very well made. The navy is a beautiful color.

I recently received this coat as a Christmas gift and I love it. I love the dark navy color and the tuxedo trim; it is perfect to wear with casual or dressy clothing. I purchased my regular size that I wear in J. Crew blazers and a coats, size 2, and the length and overall fit is perfect. However, my arms are not slim, but also not muscular, and the sleeves are a little tight when I wear the coat with a sweater, (even a slim merino wool sweater that isn't very thick). Other than that this coat is warm, beautiful and such a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PALR Perfect coat for a night out on the town
Beautiful coat made of melton wool, fabric is soft but firm enough that it keeps it's shape, as the silhouette is sharp and tailored. Arms could be a little tight, mine are thin so not an issue. Also, I'm between a 0 and a 2 and sized up to a 2 based on other reviews. Glad I did, again, since the arms in the 0 might have been tight. Beautiful navy color with the contrast of the collar is very nice and luxurious looking, perfect for a night out.

Ok I usually love live for all of Jcrews coats but this one was simply not the quality and texture that I had expected from them. The fabric was soooo stiff and it just didn't do anything for me. The fit was true to size and the style has a great concept with the tuxedo look which I love but what ruined this coat was the Melton wool , not a great texture at all. I prefer a smooth finish and a fabric that allows you to move with you....
Very poor quality....
