It's hard to believe that someone curvy below the waist could love a jean called "toothpick," but there you go. This style really is universally flattering, and the color is so much more versatile than bright white. I am already looking forward to wearing these with boots in the fall! Unlike another reviewer, I actually like the beige stitching, which stands out against the ecru. Great amount of stretch for all-day wear, and pockets are sized and placed well to avoid "mom butt." Win-win!

Love this pant and style, I am not a tall person, average and middle age...they work so well with sweaters and shirts, and the fabric is frankly the best on the market. ...so comfortable. I have in several colors. The ecru color which I love - I did have problems with washing, they lost the color...not sure how it happend, but because the color and style went with so many things, I bought another pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by StrawberryFields Perfect for curvy but slim petites
I am a little under 5'3", 100 lbs, and slim but with hips and a booty. I got a pair of these in size 25. They fit me like a glove. I often have issues with jeans gaping at the waist, but this one doesn't. For reference, this hits me around my hipbones, an inch or so below my bellybutton, and I measure 30" there. At my widest (booty) I measure almost 35". These jeans fit close to the body but are not too tight or constricting. No panty lines either (wearing regular bikini panties). They go all the way to my heels like a regular-length jeans, which is fine by me as I don't like cropped pants.
They are very soft and stretchy. The fabric has a natural cotton feel, where you see the threads and grain, with a very slight darker tone for the grain, but it's very subtle. I love the brown stitches, it makes everything look warm and harmonious.
They are beautiful, versatile, and much classier than those bright whites that are everywhere these days. I think they are truly four-season pants.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dilek I love the toothpick jean from J.Crew
I love the cut of the toothpick jean from J.Crew. Very well done. However, this ecru color is not as I was expecting it. The fabric has some brown stains in it, which are part of it. It is not like the picture shows, clean ecru. It is with little stains. Still I love it and will keep it. It runs a true to size, however, due to the high stretch in it, some could get a size smaller. I am a 26 in toothpick jeans and took this one as well in 26. I am happy with it, but could also take a 25.

Rated 3 out of 5 by joan Waist/hip fits, but legs too baggy
I loved the ecru toothpick jeans from last season that came in a nonstretch cotton. They are the first pair of skinny jeans that have ever actually fit snug on my seat, thighs, and calves, and came to a true skinny 9" circumference on size 24. They also hit just below my ankle bone. However, the waist gaped 2 inches, and the fabric started out tight but bagged out by the end of the day.
I hoped that this stretch ecru toothpick would solve all of the problems from last year, but no such luck.
Now, the waist and seat fit well, but the thighs, calves, and ankle are too large. For reference, I'm 5'2", 95 pounds, 31-24-33. I consider myself to have muscular legs for my frame, so I was surprised the legs were about an inch too baggy down the legs. The length is also longer this year, which is probably great for everyone else, but not for me.
I considered trying to shrink them, but ultimately decided it wasn't worth the hassle. My search for the perfect ecru jeans continues.
