Wool melton duffle coat

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful coat; arms are more fitted than expected This is a great alternative to the usual long, down coat for another cold Michigan winter. I especially wanted a coat with a hood, that was still refined. The coat fits the bill perfectly. I ordered my usual size 0, but found that the sleeves are a bit too fitted to accommodate the usual sweater that will be underneath. I wish I had sized up to a 2 at the outset. I will either let my daughter have it....or make an exchange. September 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Hood Ever/ Proper Melton Melton is waterproof, which is why I went for this coat. I bought in September but waited until now to review so I could try it through a winter first. I sized up and got an 8 (5'6" 137lbs). While I wish the sleeves were a tad longer- it hits me right before my wrist bone- it fits well otherwise. The coat is a bit bulky in the torso, but it's perfect because then you can layer like crazy, and then wear the coat all winter... well to about -18C (anything colder, you really need a parka). The coat also has this cool double stitch it feels like on the hood- it makes the hood heavy, so it stays ON when the wind blows. If you live in the north, especially in a city, this is a great coat, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. If you live in warmer climates and are looking for a fashion coat, this will not be the coat for you, because it's designed to be large/be paired with layering. February 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great fall layering piece! I'm usually between a regular 8 and a 10 in coats, and purchased the 10. The sleeves are a bit narrower than some other coats I have, say last season's cocoon, but after sizing up, I can layer it with my sweaters. The material is a substantial wool blend, and I love how tight the knit is-stops all the wind gusts. Height-wise, I'm 5'3"; the sleeve lengths are perfect, and the coat hits past my knees for about two inches. Last but not least, the heather thistle color is beautiful-a sort of muted pinkish/lavender color with a brownish tinge, just a shade darker than the stock photo; the mixed heather effect really makes it stand out. Highly recommended! October 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Misleading Warm Camel Color Sizing: I'm just under 5 feet, and bought both the 0P and 00P. The only real significant difference between the two is the tightness of the upper arm/shoulder area. It doesn't bother me too much so I'm probably going with the 00P. This is quite a boxy fit, but it's not as overwhelming on a small frame as the cocoon coat is! Color: I bought this in the warm camel, wanting a tan coat. Well, it's much darker than actually pictured. I'll be returning both coats to exchange it for the red color...the warm camel is too drab in my opinion. Material: It is definitely flattering. I think it's going to be pretty warm when the weather drops below 30, so I'm pleased with that! October 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Coat! I ordered this in the persimmon/ electric color. It is a beautiful coat and the color is actually nicer than it appears on the website. The quality of the coat is excellent and will be very warm for winter climates. It is definitely a piece that you can wear for years. Some reviewers mentioned that the sleeves were tight; I would say that the top of coat (upper arms and shoulders) is more fitted than the bottom of the coat. JCrew usually runs a bit large. I wear a 6-8 in most all brands and in this coat I ordered the 4 and 6. I preferred the fit of the 4, but I am not planning on layering anything really thick or heavy under it. October 18, 2014
