As a "rounder" girl, pea coats are normally horrendous on me. I bought this GORGEOUS coat thinking that I would likely be looking to exchange it for one for my extra small daughter. With failure in mind, imagine my delight when this beauty not only fit well but looks amazing! The navy is a beautiful blue color - not muddy at all - and the FIT! Hands down, my favorite J.Crew purchase to date. I was hesitant to buy the 16 because I'm a solid XL, but it is perfect. Quality is outstanding and I look forward to adding a few additional colors to my closet.

I love this coat, I will continue to wear it because the fabric quality and fit is perfect. But I was incredibly disappointed in the button situation. After the first month of wearing the coat the buttons popped off twice and had to be resewn, this occurred not because of a tight fit but because of the button edges sawing into the thread everyday. Poor choice in button types, after twice reattaching I have replaced all of the buttons. Far too much work to be put into a coat that costs $$$.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Sarah Beautiful but terrible quality
This is a beautiful coat. It's stylish, it's warm, and it gets a lot of compliments. However, none of this ultimately matters when the thread that holds the buttons in place is flimsy, easily broken, and can't withstand more than a day of general wear. Within a week of my original purchase in Fall 2013, all three of the buttons that I used for the button holes had popped off. Assuming this was a fluke defect, J. Crew replaced the coat... and another button popped off. I retired the coat for the winter, but after just two days of wearing it again for Fall 2014, two more buttons have popped off again. This leads me to believe that I am not receiving defective coats, but that the thread is simply very shoddy quality. I don't think I would be losing all of the buttons if the thread was sturdy enough for actual use. Very disappointing, and unless J. Crew has changed its materials for the current Fall 2014 season, I would not recommend purchasing this coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kjd67 Chestnut more brownish than reflected in picture
This is a beautifully made, substantial wool peacoat. The heather chestnut is a nice fall color, slightly darker and more brownish (as opposed to orangish) than the picture suggests. I am usually an XS in tops and a size 2 in the Schoolboy blazer, but went with the 4 in this coat so that I'd have room for layers. It is a little boxy around the middle, but fits nicely elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 63compo My go-to for cool (and cold) weather
I bought the navy two years ago and the mineral blue last year. I love these coats. They are made to last - and they are so classic and great-looking, you'll want them to. The navy color is particularly rich, and the buttons are great. I just wish J Crew would make one in a true camel color!
