With its gorgeous lines and scalloped detailing, I knew I had to have this shoe. It's pretty, feminine, and after a couple of initial wearings, quite comfortable. It required a bit of stretching, so I was that woman with bandages around her heels for the first two wearings. After that, they became quite comfy. I purchased the black suede and plan to wear them into the fall.
Beyond the shoe itself, I have to note that I was prompted to write this review in order to prasie the elegance of J. Crew's packaging. My shoes included a pretty shoe bag of excellent quality. The logo on the bag is sophisticated and speaks to an elevated respect for design that keeps me coming back to J.Crew again and again. They deliver an old fashioned experience of elegance that is sadly lacking from many retail experiences today. Please don't lose this attention to detail!

Great shoes. I have several pairs of point toe flats that all fit differently and usually squeeze on top of my toes, like the Harper's predecessor, the Viv. These fit much more true to size and don't have any points of irritation yet. I saw some others try these on as well--minimal toe cleavage, if any. High quality fabrics. My only qualm was that when you walk, you can feel the tapering of the toes, it might become irritable after a while, or you could just size up.

The Viv is without a doubt my most favorite shoe. Based on that, I decided to try the Harper because of the colors and the scallop. I ordered my Viv size, 8.0 (I'm a true 7.5) with that in mind. I shouldn't have. The Harper is wider in the ball of the foot and toe area -- placing my Viv 8 on top of the Harper 8 showed nearly 1/4 difference in width in the top portion of the shoe, even though the length was the same. No problem. Simply exchanged for the 7.5 in the Harper. These are gorgeous shoes, and after the usual breaking in required in all quality leather shoes, I know they will be as comfortable as my beloved Vivs. Minimal toe cleavage in the Harper while still seeming very feminine. I want to take the opportunity to say I have quit getting shoes from anyplace but JCrew. The quality for the price is without compare especially with sales. I still have and wear my favorite ballet flats from around 2004, The Big Bow flat.

I absolutely love these flats. However, if you are like me and have wide feet, definitely order a half size, maybe even a full size up. When I intially put them on they felt fine. But after making the 6 block walk to the subway and 3 blocks to my job, the back of my heels were rubbed raw. So the past few weeks I have been wearing these in short spurts around the house and at the office (always with a back up pair of comfy slippers on hand) I finally ventured to wear them to run some errands the other day and they're finally getting there. I do love the shoes themselves and they look super chic and stylish but just beware.

Well made, well fitting (I did go up 1/2 size because pointy toe) and stylish. Will get good wear out of these shoes!
