I ordered this skirt as I loved the length and color of the denim. It was much shorter than shown in the picture or described in the details section. When I returned it the salesperson measured it and sure enough it was 2 1/2 inches shorter than described. I'm bummed...

I was disappointed too. I measured the length and it is 22 inches long, not the 24.5 inches as described. The quality is very good, but the sizing is off a bit too. The size 28 is supposed to be a 6, but it was very snug compared to the other pencil skirts I have ordered from J Crew. It's going back.

As the other reviewers said, it is much shorter than pictured. It does not reach my knees. It is also very tight- I have other J. Crew pencil skirts in the same & smaller sizes (ostensibly), but this one is really skin-tight. Not what I had in mind or what the picture suggests .

This skirt is much shorter than the one pictured. Although the description has been updated, the proportion as pictured is much different than the skirt I received. The fabric and construction are fine, it just does not give the look depicted in the picture.

Thanks to the reviews, I picked the right size (28=6, instead of my usual size 2 in J. Crew skirts). Thank you, fellow reviewers!
Apart from the weird sizing, I really like the skirt: the denim fabric is soft and dark blue and there is no bulging fabric around the zip area - a problem with most denim skirts, I find.
I will probably alter the fit a little and make the bottom half of the skirt a bit narrower, so it really looks like a pencil skirt. And I may even make it a little shorter (I'm petite and the skirt actually covers my knees now).
On the whole, a great replacement for a denim skirt I had to retire.
