I was so excited to buy this skirt and I thought, "FINALLY - a pleated knee-length skirt with pockets that comes in gray and navy." This skirt is anything but knee-length unless you are 5'4" or shorter. I am 5'5" and this skirt EASILY comes 2" above the knee (size 4). I'm so frustrated by J. Crew's insistence on making shorter skirts for working women...I teach at an all-boys high school. I need knee-length or slightly below, and I shouldn't have to sacrifice great style. The description for this skirt says it's a mid-length; this skirt is far from mid-length. PLEASE J. Crew...pleated skirts like this are awesome, but make them in a longer length! Two more inches would make this skirt a dream.

This is a very nicely made skirt and the fabric is a good weight for my warm climate. The grey is a pretty color and the skirt is very versatile.
I found the fit to be larger than the no2 pencil skirts and I needed to size down from my usual size. At 65" tall, the skirt hits me right at at top of the knee.
The pleats are not pressed in very firmly. I ended up steaming them out and I prefer the look of the full skirt. I agree with the previous reviewer that the skirt is front heavy and tends to get dragged down due to the weight.

I found this skirt to be a nice quality light weight wool, an 'all season' wool. The pockets are really great, and it is nicely lined. I am 5'6" and did not find the skirt to be short as the prior reviewer did, however waist to knee length does vary from person to person. The only thing from making this skirt perfect is the awkward clasp at the top of the zipper that does not lay flat, and the fact that the pleats in the front seem to slightly weight down the front of the skirt compared to the back. I don't think it warrants a return tho, the skirt is very pretty!

I ordered this skirt with a lot of worries. I'm 5'2" and normally order petite 00. But my gut feeling was that skirts like this don't have much stretch and it would fit in the waist like their patio skirts (tight to the waist).
I was also concerned this skirt would be too long. My is taste is that midi skirts look too long on me, and kind of dowdy. So i was hoping for something a bit shorter.
Luckily i guessed right!
I sized up to petite 0 and it fits perfectly. Not too tight!
The skirt hem ends at the top of my knees. It falls beautifully and the fabric is fairly lightweight but high quality. It's not bulky at all.
I love how it does not pleat in the back, which avoids bulk & a private schoolgirl vibe. I am concerned when i wash it that the pleats will come out since they are only sewn down at the top by a few inches.
So my impression is this is a great skirt, just not a midi. If you're short and you want a chance at a midi length, maybe the regular length would work.
Great job JCrew!

This skirt is the perfect length on my 5'3" self. Love the pockets. The skirt is thick enough to have some structure, and it is lined. I really like it - so much so I bought another!
