I've been purchasing the J. Crew cashmere cardigan since they first were introduced - probably over a decade ago. This year's crop are a nice heavyweight, but the feel is not good. They feel like a wool blend rather than cashmere - there's an itchiness factor. I was glad to see a dark brown - a color they haven't done in this style in several seasons. However the Midnight is not as good as a true navy. Honestly, the best J. Crew cashmere cardigans I have are those from the early years. Here's hoping for next year.

First, I have bought many cashmere cardigans with J Crew over the years and have always loved how soft they were from the start and how well they wear. I hadn't purchased a regular weight cardi in many years ( because they wear so well)and the jury is still out about this purchase. It is definitely a different manufacturer and while I like the fit (the others are a little longer and this is more fitted, I don't know if I like the feel of it. I had to check the tag initially twice because it felt like a merino wool sweater, not cashmere. It is thicker and not the same softness that I have come to expect from Jcrew cashmere sweaters and I own 5 cardis and 3 cashmere short sleeve tshirts. I hope it softens with wear or I will not be buying cashmere sweaters from Jcrew any time soon. I wish they didn't change.

I ordered this sweater to wear with a dress for a wedding. It was a good color and style, but the quality was a bit disappointing. There was a loose button and some yarn popping out of the seams in two locations. I thought about returning it, but time was short and I didn't have other options.

I own several Cashmere sweaters and this one is no where the quality it is supposed to be, it is itchy like wool. The color is beautiful and so is the style, very classic but poor quality yarn. After wearing it for half an hour you can feel the prickles from it. I will not be buying J. Crew cashmere again, their styles are great but they need to take a second look at the quality of their yarn. Cashmere comes in several qualities and I would expect much better quality from J. Crew given that it is supposed to be woven in Italy.

This sweater works well as a transitional summer-to-fall piece over a sleeveless dress or with dress pants or a skirt to pull together a professional look for the office. The sleeves are a slim fit so it will not work well over a loose or bulky shirt.
