Rated 3 out of 5 by Wasn't broke, don't know why they "fixed" it This was my absolute favorite sweater last fall, and I could not wait to receive the gorgeous golden 2014 version. However, I am dismayed to discover that they have changed the style by essentially attaching the arms inside out. The texture of the knit on the arms is, therefore, different as well. The exposed seams make the sweater look sloppy. I will keep this one because I love the color, but I will only wear it for very casual events. It is not nearly as versatile as last year's model, and I will not buy any more of this style. I am so disappointed; I had planned to add several of the new colors. Maybe they will reprise the sweater next year and attach the sleeves properly. August 4, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not a Good Look I was excited to get this swingy shaped sweater in a pastel (hthr river) for the fall. I followed the recommendations and ordered down to an xxs, which fit. I thought people were being picky or talking about the outward seam when complaining about the sleeves being "sewn inside out". Um, no. They literally are turned inside out and sewn on. Why would that ever be a good idea? Fail. The arm holes were too big and low, and I was expecting it to be a little bit longer. Beautiful idea and color but executed alllllll wrong. August 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cold have one in every color~ Runs Big I was delighted when they arrived. The Crushed grape is a deep purple ( not blue as shown) and the Charcoal is a perfect shade of dark grey. They are styled large so although a M would usually work on me I was swimming in it. If your arms are proportionate I would size down. Excellent quality and soft. Heavy enough where there is no need to wear anything under it. It reminds me of the classic vintage J-Crew. I will return both for a smaller size!! Love them. A definite classic wardrobe staple. Rated 1 out of 5 by sleeves are inside-out Like a previous reviewer, I was pleased to see the return of the merino wool swing sweater in new colours, especially in the gold. Fortunately for me, I could see in the online photos that there is something wrong with the sleeves - they are definitely inside-out with correspondingly ugly exposed edges at the raglan seams - so I didn't order it. What a waste of an awesome sweater. I have last year's version in a heather grey, with the sleeves attached normally, and it is an awesome sweater. As it says in the description, it is a 'loose' fit, so size down if you don't want to be swimming in it. I'm at the upper end of the M (or even lower L) size range and I took a S. I guess some people think the inside-out look is stylish, but to some of us it obviously isn't. J. Crew, please make the sweater like you did last year with the sleeves attached normally, and please make it in some deep, rich jewel tones - I will definitely buy some. August 11, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Massive! I ordered this sweater in the warm lilac. Love the color, the fabric was excellent quality, and I also like the idea of a relaxed, swingy top for fall. The problem was, it was massive! And I do mean massive.. I think it would be large even for a maternity sweater. I'm 5'3" and 116, and while the sleeve length and overall length was fine, it was wide enough to fit two of me in it and then some! I expected a relaxed fix, perhaps even a little boxy, but I looked like a flying squirrel when I held my arms out. What's odd is, I ordered an XS and expected that the sleeves would at least be fitted. They were compared to the rest of it, but still too large..the cuffs weren't fitted to my forearm, which I find bothers me in a sweater. It went back. They have nicer sweaters for fall for the same or less $$. August 2, 2014
