I love J.Crew for it's classic style, but they continue to oversize just a little, year after year......It makes it really difficult to order online, even when ordering the same exact styles. I am in no way happier to have to go down a size, I just want to have clothes that fit as they did the previous year without all the back and forth shipping.....
Please, J.Crew, a smaller number size is NOT better...it's simply just a smaller number and makes it more frustrating to shop online. Let's not add to our society's twisted idea that being a size 00 is a trophy of some sort. Some women are born that way naturally, but for the rest of us, we do not need our egos stroked in that way, we just need cool, sophisticated clothes that make us feel good, and look good, regardless of the number indicating the size.

These are perfect. Bought in navy - it is a perfectly classic navy color, just as it appears online. The fabric is good weight and quality, and the 4" length offers appropriate modesty and comfort without dowdiness. I am 5'6"/120lb/36.5" hips and size 2 is a perfect fit. Highly recommend.

I love these shorts so much I bought then in 3 colors. Not too long and not too short. Just right. I'm 5'2 130lbs and the 4 fit awesome. My go to summer shorts for sure!

I think I must own 20 or more pairs of these shorts...some in 3" and 5", but most in the 4" length. I find the 4" length to be the most comfortable. They're modest, but short enough to be cool on a hot day. They're a low rise, but they don't cut in to give you muffin top and they don't slip down every time you bend over. The fit is the same as any of the other chino styles by J Crew. At 5'4" and 115 lbs., the size 2 is very loose and comfortable fit.

I used to buy low quality shorts after I had kids and spent more money on their clothes but I am re-coverted back to JCrew! THEY can have the low quality clothes they can trash out, mama gets good quality stuff now after my hard work I went through to get my body back. The quality is worth it and they are just so much better than any other brand. The 4" is the perfect in between length for my 5'8, 140lb build. I am 38 so 3" shorts are too short. The weight of the twill is much higher quality than any other shorts. I love them almost more than my running shoes. Note, JCrew sizing is "smaller" than other brands which are more vanity sized. So if you are a 6 in other like-sportswear brands, you're probably an 8 in JCrew. Twill/Cotton stretches a little but also shrinks in the wash and you don't want shorts tight so keep that in mind. A classic item you'll have in your closet for years.
