J Crew has broken my heart again. I love their women's t-shirt colors and cuts, but I'm shocked that it only takes about three washings for tiny holes to start developing right where the shirt sits over my belt buckle. Oh, and a seam unraveling in one armpit. Seriously, three washings. I guess the "tissue" is actually Kleenex.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MOMom Fitting smaller than in previous years
I have always liked the Tissue Tees a bit better than the J. Crew Vintage Tees because the Tissue Tee is slightly thicker and not as see-through in the lighter colors, plus it washes better over time and does not break down as easy as the lighter Vintage Tee material. However, I am noticing this summer that the Tissue Tee is slightly different and the material not as thick. I purchased the mint green color and it was much more see-through than I would have expected for the tee and this color. Also, I always buy a medium for a looser fit and the medium this summer is more fitted after washing and drying than my tees from previous years. I am considering purchasing the large this next month to try to achieve the fit I would like. Since I would rather not wear a cami under my tee in the hot summer months I plan to just stick to purchasing the darker colors for now to avoid the see-through issue.

I like clothes that can be extremely multi-purpose, and these t-shirts are perfect--they go with pretty much anything and work in any not-too-dressy situation. I'm not a buy-in-multiples person by any means, but I have these in multiple colors, and they're so basic that I don't feel like people are going to notice I have a "uniform". The fit is really good--relatively fitted in the shoulders and bust, a little more relaxed around the waist but not so relaxed that they have an a-line appearance, and the length is perfect, slightly long-ish. The neckline is the perfect crewneck--not scooped, but not too high either. The fabric is soft but not clingy.
One caveat--the lighter non-marled colors can be too see-through for my taste since the fabric is very lightweight. The light marled gray, though, is not see-through at all.
Speaking of dark colors, these keep their color well with repeated washing, and I haven't had any of that annoying seam twist that sometimes happens.

I ordered five different colors of the tissue t. I wear these t's year round. They are dressy enough to wear tucked into a full skirt and wear underneath a suit jacket. Yet I love to wear them with jeans, crops, shorts and even layer them underneath a scratchy sweater in the winter. Love, love, love Crew's tissue t. Wish they were available in short and long sleeves in the stores.

I ordered the tissue tee in back and it fits very nicely. It is shapely, but not fitted, so you don't run the risk of fidgeting with the hems. It is also not too loose, so you don't feel frumpy. It adds instant polish and the fabric is soft but seems durable. I love it and cannot wait to order more.
