University coat with Thinsulate®

I'm 5'9 160 ish lbs I purchased the medium slim fit online thinking it would fit me perfectly but this coat runs large and the arms were noticeably long. I was thinking about getting the arms shortened but even if I did that the over all size it still bulky maybe I should of tried a small regular fit.

I have been a J.Crew consumer for many many years, and I have noticed that the sizes in general seem to be getting larger. I am 6'0",178lbs, with an average build, but I do have wider shoulders. I usually wear a medium or a large slim, but lately have been ordering small or a medium in everything from here. With this coat I ordered a Small and it fits perfectly. I have worn it with a shirt, shirt and sweater, and a sweatshirt and the coat fits just fine. This is a very warm coat and I highly recommend it!

My son who lives in Tokyo let me know that it fits perfectly. I bought a size medium , he is slim and 6 feet tall I did notice before I mailed it that the fabric attracts all kinds of fibers it might be difficult to keep it looking neat .

Ordered the Slim coat in a size small. My son is 6'1 and weighs 150lbs. This coat was almost perfect! The sleeve length was just a little too short for him. Sending this coat back to try the Tall coat in Xsmall.

Bought this coat for my husband who's 6'2" 180ish and typically takes a medium in J.Crew. After reading other reviews we somewhat nervously bought a small, and it fits him perfectly! He was worried the arms wouldn't be long enough on the small, but they fall right where they should. The length could be a little weird on a shorter guy, as it's a very straight bodied coat and it hits him a few inches below his belt. It's sort of like it's between a long coat and a short one. The straight body works on him because while he has broad shoulders he's slim in the body. Warm coat, he got the grey and it's very versatile. Not too dressy for casual every day stuff, and not too casual for going to and from the office. Actually, the coat is pretty innocuous, which is great for a guy who wants to look sharp but not flashy. The only con is the pockets that he can keep his hands warm in are a bit high (above navel height).

I read online that it runs large and it does. I buy medium in J Crew shirts and sweaters and a small fit me perfectly. The material is great and the thinsulate is excellent. Stitching around the inside pocket has come undone, however. A small detail and cheap to fix, it is disappointing to see damage already occurring this soon after purchasing. Still a good product.
