Ludlow car coat in Italian cotton

The pattern alignment is weak, although I think few would notice. Material is stiff, not sure I’ve ever had a coat quite like it. Nonetheless, I actually like the sizing and it gets plenty of compliments. Kinda a great alternative to a trench coat which is a style I can’t see myself in.

Same sentiments as the reviewer jsip "It's a miss." It is advertised as Ludlow fit but not even close to fitting like other Ludlow cuts and not slim - AT ALL. The material is like patio furniture - stiff and cold. The fit is strange and baggy (like two sizes too large) - like it was cut from a trash bag. When I button the front the top back area bunches up while the bottom half is baggy. I've never seen a car coat so poorly cut. The arms are too long - and the opening - too large. Might have been cut for funny shaped aliens. Maybe the factory affixed the wrong size because the fit is a complete fail. I like the pattern but this one slipped through quality control it seems. Can't return it and will try wearing it - but probably not going to regularly.

Saw the negative reviews on this coat and wanted to offer my two cents. The cotton fabric is in the technical-fabric category, tight-knit (think Slowear/Montedoro fabrics). Looks to be water-resistant and very high quality, and matches most of my work attire. Coat overall is very well made. I wear a Ludlow slim 44R sports jacket, and the 42R car coat worked fine for me. (If you're looking to wear a jacket under the coat, I'd size up to a 44 instead.) Honestly, the design team hit it out of the park on this one. If you're on the fence, at a discount this coat offers an exceptional value.

Loved the idea but it fell way short in execution. My last three jackets were size 40 so I ordered a size 40......big mistake as it's way to big for me. Now I'm stuck with something I'll NEVER wear as it can not be exchanged for a smaller size.

Anyone who paid full price for this coat should call the cops. I paid $85 so I'm not too worried. The fabric is stiff. It's like the stuff they make patio awnings out of. You'd think an unlined cotton coat would have some drape and flow to it. This fits like the smock they give you when you're getting x-rays at the dentist. The color is a bit darker than the pictures. Grayer and more drab, not what most people would consider khaki. Think newspaper in a puddle. That's what color it is. Size 42 measures 23.5 inches pit to pit when buttoned and laying flat. I get that it's a coat but that's a very generous cut, like they traced a garbage bag to make the pattern. It might have been worth getting tailored if the material was nicer. I'll try to think of something nice to say. It seems well made?

The pattern is nice...the coat doesn't flow naturally and has the slight stiffness of a raincoat/light leather coat...not heavy and can be worn on a day with a slight cool breeze...will not keep you warm on a call day. Quality is great...
