Collection halter-neck fringe-hem dress in crepe

Such a gorgeous dress, and it would've worked perfectly... had it not been too small. I ordered a 14, and it should've worked as that is my usual dress size, but I could barely zip it, and my chest was spilling out everywhere - and not in a good way. Sigh. This probably my 5th or 6th J. Crew dress from this summer's collection, so I was looking forward to this one based on all of the reviews of the size, the gorgeous color, and how great it looked on everyone else. Wish mine fit because it is gorgeous.

The title says it all - this dress has fun unique features like the fringe, keyhole neckline and halter back. I got this in Orchid for a wedding in the Caribbean coming up, and it is one of those rare colors that looks great on everyone (I’m ghostly white, and both my tan sister and I look great in it). It does run big - I sized down from my usual size 4 to a 2. This fit in the chest (I’m a 32C-D) but is big in the waist. If a 0 was available, this would probably be the perfect fit. However, for the price, I’ll gladly take this to the tailor to get this taken in.

Not sure why this dress hasn’t sold out. It is absolute perfection! I bought the orchid and the color is beautiful! The fit is tts and it seriously hits in all the right places! Just buy it! It is a timeless beauty!

Definitely order a size down. I initially ordered an 8 given my measurements on JCrew’s size chart despite typically being a 4 or maybe 6…had to return the 8 which was far too big and tried a 2 based on another review here. The 2 fit my not quite athletic, not quite hourglass, not quite straight figure beautifully. I was also pleasantly surprised that when I got up after sitting at both the wedding ceremony and dinner, it was not as wrinkled as I was expecting! Such a bonus on top of the unique combination of fringe, keyhole, open back, sleek shape, and color that are outstanding all together! I love this dress and can’t wait to wear it again.

It’s very cute, nice quality, and I love the flippy back. But as is fairly standard for J Crew, it runs a bit big. I’m a 6/8 in most brands and got a 6, but it’s loose in the waist and hips. Given the lack of ruffles it would be tough to take it in, so it’s going back for a 4.
