Quilted denim pencil skirt

I was on the fence about this skirt especially regarding the sizing. My normal 6 would have meant ordering a 28 but after a bad experience with a similar final sale item a few years ago, I decided to call and get exact measurements. Even going as far as to compare sizing with another skirt that I had purchased earlier. So glad I did the research because the 28 would have been too small. I ended up getting a 31 which fits fine. I know I have not “gained a few” as I wore successfully this week, two J.Crew size 6 skirts. The pattern for the skirt is unique and makes the skirt a winner in my book.

Lovely denim skirt that looks very much like the version worn by the model, i.e. the quilting is clearly visible. Compared to other J. Crew skirts I bought in the past, this item runs really small - I had to go up two sizes to find the right fit. The only problem I can see is that there's too much fabric around the zip; especially the end of the zip sticks out in a weird and unflattering way (not visible in the website pictures). I'll try to fix this problem myself because I don't want to wear this skirt only with long jumpers or jackets that cover up the problem zone.

I love the detail of the quilting on the skirt...kinda wish it was on the back as well. The stretch in the fabric lends to a perfect fit for the pencil skirt. Looks perfect with a tee and boots.J.Crew...you did it again!!!!!

So worth the purchase. Different from my other denim skirts, style unique.

I ordered this before there were any reviews and was unsure of sizing. I usually wear a size 6 and I purchased the 28. The fit is perfect. I am 5'10" and it comes to just above my knees while the waistband sits at my actual waist. It is a fitted pencil skirt that tapers from the hips to the knees but it's not tight. I love the quilt stitching on the front...so unique. The skirt I received looks just like the model shot and the stitching stands out from the faded denim. Love it. Highly recommend!

The denim is darker than pictured, which makes the quilting detail less pronounced. (For reference, if you were standing at the distance the photographer is from the model, you would have a difficult time seeing the quilt pattern in real life.) It fits tightly - the denim has a lot of stretch - but the fabric is very thick which made the skirt a little constricting. Even with the stretch, it seemed to be on the small side, so if you're between sizes I'd recommend going up.
