Collection Kate straight-leg pant in leather

Beautiful soft leather. Constructed well. Wish they were full length.

To have the iconic "Kate" in leather is a dream come true but, the smell is akin to the fertilizer used on the farm when I was kid......I mean, what happened here??? Couldn't figure out if it was the leather or, the lining(?). After reading another reviewer's post, I realized it's the leather! I'm forging ahead with the pants(because I've searched too long, and the style/price works for me) but, I can't reccomend them to others. Have been "airing" them out for a couple weeks, separate from my other clothes....and I wiped them down with a leather conditioner(made especially for clothes).....the awful smell has abated tremendously but, I fear that my body heat will renew the smell when I wear them(?). Oh well, I guess we shall see? Otherwise: a timeless style that has endured for decades(minus this disappointing snafu)....the pockets are great and the pants are properly hemmed(not left "rough cut"). *For me, the sizing is same as all the other bazillion Kate pants I've purchased. :)

I purchased these in 2 sizes and both wreaked of tanning gone wrong! The smell...oh the smell! Quality would have been sufficient minus the smell. Sizing is on point - 6 fit - 5'9" - 138 lbs - hourglass figure. From my experience, when leather has this type of smell from tanning, it's there to stay. Returned. Too bad!

I already have a pair of leather leggings but these pants are a little more work appropriate. To me they feel a bit big (and fit somewhat like they do on the model in the photos), but I do go between size 12 and 14 and in this case I sized up to 14. I feel like I could've worn 12s. So if you are like me and between sizes, just be aware. The leather will have some stretch/give to it as it warms and conforms to your body. The pants themselves are versatile and will go with just about anything. They do have a smell (as mentioned by another reviewer) but if you air them out for a day or two after you receive them, the smell goes away. My biggest struggle was with the button! It will take some use to button and unbutton them more easily but that's a minor detail.

I have wanted a pair of leather pants for a long time and have waited to find the right pair. I can’t get in on the faux look as it just does not have the richness or the feel of real leather. I love the fit of the Kate pant as it is such a complementary cut. So when I saw these, it was a must!!! Let me say they will not let you down. They are the perfect pair of leather trousers. The leather is buttery soft and looks so high quality a nice matte black with a very natural sheen. The fit is right on for me. I am 5’5” and about 130-135 lbs and bought size 4. They fit nice as they will probably naturally give a bit but are not stretchy. They have a great trouser look and are not to tight or baggy. It’s worth it! In reality though $ they are more affordable then many of this quality on the market. I will have them for a lifetime and hopefully pass them down! Thank you J Crew for this classic!

I saw this pant and ordered it AS SOON AS it arrived online! I wanted a nice pant that I can wear to work on casual Fridays or a night out with my girls and look GOOD. I'm a woman of a certain girth and age, and thought this leather pant is "the one." In any event, I waited with bated breath to add it to my closet. I pulled it out of its packaging and nearly lost my lunch from the smell. It's been hanging outside and inside my house with high hopes that the odor will abate. But so far... let me just say that while it's not AS pungent, it's still pretty strong. Needless to say, I've not had this issue with any leather purchase. Ever. That said, I'm about to give up and return it. I've been a JCrew girl for the longest -- I'm dating myself -- back to their mail-order catalog days! The quality of their clothing was pretty much assured. I hope this is an anomaly. If not, JCrew, please take a good look at how this was sourced.
