Trunks from the Birthplace of
What: M.Nii® swimwear.
The Story: In the 1950s, there was one place every surfer wanted to be: the beaches of Makaha on the island of Oahu. That’s also where mom-and-pop tailoring shop M.Nii was located, so naturally, the two came together when M.Nii began making swim trunks to the specs of local pro riders. Now, the brand is back, helmed by John Moore (one of GQ’s best new menswear designers), who creates swimwear like the 100 percent cotton drowner trunks, which are made in the U.S. and styled like something out of a Don James photograph.
