Gwen lug-sole high-shaft Chelsea boots in leather

I bought this boot because it went on sale and I wanted a flat boot. Didn't expect to love it the way I do. I really love this boot. I bought a few boots this season. These by far are my favorite. Their comfortable, really good for walking. They are vey stylish. This is definitely a go anywhere, anytime type of boot that I'll be wearing for years to come. The 10h fit true to size, with a thin trouser sock. They did need a little breaking in but after the first wear they were perfect. I got the black, which goes everything. The tan look nice. If they go on sale and have my size, I may pick those up too.

I ordered the cream color and returned to see if it went on sale. The cream sold out but when I got the brown boots on sale, the quality was a lot lower in how the boots fit and feel. It doesn't seem like there should be a quality difference just based on color, but I'm disappointed with my final sale boots in comparison.

Love these boots! So comfortable. I usually wear a 6 but sized down to a 5.5 and they fit really good. The leather is soft and the tan scratches easily. If you are looking for boots that over time will not look worn in then pass on these boots. I love that they have scratches and are beginning to look worn. I've worn them all day at work for days at a time and my feel felt fine. Great purchase.

Boots are beautiful. The higher shaft is fun, not too high. I like the lug sole and they are very light and comfortable. I was concerned with the higher shaft that they would be hard to put on and take off but that is not the case. I am usually an 8.5 which is the size I ordered. They are definitely roomy but I prefer that to too tight. And I can wear warm socks in the cold. Don't size up.

I have purchased countless Chelsea boots trying to find a pair that fit me, are comfortable, and don’t make it look like I’m wearing giant floppy clown shoes on my already big feet. These hit all those marks and I’m not sad about paying full price for them! I love the J Crew “h” option - I’m always between sizes but half sizes tend to run wide, which make shoes sloppy on me. I could wear these every single day in every situation. Love everything about them. The leather is soft and comfortable, hasn’t yet cracked or creased, go on and off easily, and aren’t clunky. Buy these!

This review is in regards to the brown boots only. Based on all the photos and reviews for the black and beechwood boots, they don’t seem to have these issues. I purchased the brown pair during a sale and was so excited that I paid extra $$ to get them before a trip. When they arrived, I was utterly shocked by how scuffed up and scratched they looked! There were scuff marks all over the the boots and the black elastic band seemed dirty, like a a try on pair. I was certain they’d sent me used boots - perhaps a store took these back without checking. Customer service shipped out another pair w/o question, which was great. However, the 2nd pair also had scuffs and light scratches, albeit not as bad. It seems it’s an issue with the leather itself - they used a raw/unfinished leather, which is very delicate and easily distressed. That’s fine if the item is presented as such and what you’re expecting, which was not the case. Glad I didn’t pay full price! Otherwise, they fit great.
