Garment-dyed sweatshirt

Not sure what's been going on with J.Crew's sizing lately. It's as if they assume all their customers are very slender and want the "slim fit." This particular sweatshirt (ordered in pink) was especially snug. I'm 5'11" and weigh around 175-180 lbs. I'm typically a medium at J.Crew but this required a large. I have a similar sweatshirt in a different color from J.Crew but that fits nicely for a medium. I had to return the medium to the store and ask for a large. Good thing they had one in the store! I sincerely hope J.Crew sticks to more consistent sizing and remembers that men's body types vary. In sum: for most of you, I'll assume you'll need to order a size up!

I am 6 foot tall and weigh around 185. I ordered a large. In this instance with the stitching on the sides and the banding around the bottom, it sort of tapers and leads to an unflattering sillouette. All that said, it's a wonderfully made product. Comfortable and the color was perfect.

The dye is fragile and bleeds, but this is expected since it is Garment Dyed. These do not run small. Using size small as an example, the chest circumference is 40" which is similar to other J. Crew products. It may feel small to some because the sweep circumference is only 32.5", which means it will hug your hips. This makes for a comfortable and nice trim fit without flaring.

Decided to purchase a few of these due to the right price and MiUSA while following JCrew sizing recommendations. I own other JCrew sweatshirt/sweater styles the sizing is pretty consistent. Went up a size on this style and they ended up fitting very loose, especially in the collar. I washed them following the instructions expecting some kind of shrinking. Not only did that not work, the dye faded A LOT. Pretty disappointing purchase.

Quality of the sweatshirt is great and the color is great too. However, the item does run small, especially if you have an athletic body. I normally order medium and am a 15.5 neck, 32 waist but the shirt fit really tight. I had to exchange for a large.

First, I love J.Crew's products, my closet can testify. I like the style of this sweatshirt, but the fit is wacky. I have another J.Crew sweatshirt in medium, just the plain heather grey and it fits well. I first tried the medium, it was pretty constricting. So I sent it back and got the large, and it fits like a dress. It hangs down to the bottom of my back jeans pocket. I washed it hot, hoping it would tighten up and fit shorter, but no luck. I recommend the normal cotton sweatshirts from J.Crew but wouldn't go with this sweatshirt unless you are very tall and skinny (I'm very medium in size).
