Dock peacoat in herringbone

I bought this "novelty" J crew navy Dock Peacoat with a subtle distinctive herringbone pattern that I nabbed at the post-holiday sale in early 2022. Its truly a fantastic piece that I got for a great price. Unfortunately the 1st peacoat I was shipped had a stitching defect reducing the usable space in one of the handwarmer pockets but I was able to exchange it at a local J Crew retail store. Its a warm coat & I really like the utility features like the corduroy handwarmer pockets, deep front flap pockets for storage, and the nice sized Napoleon pocket that is big enuff to fit a phone or a hand though would be better if it had some kind of zipper or button closure. Also would have been nice if the coat had a security pocket for a phone or wallet as none of the pockets can be closed. I am 5ft 8", weigh 200 lbs & wear size 42R suit jackets & found the large size fit me best. Measurements of the Large size peacoat I ended up with are as follows: shoulder width: 19 inches; chest width (pit to pit): 23.5 inches; length (center back collar to bottom hem): 34 inches; sleeve length (shoulder seam to sleeve cuff): 26 inches.

I love this coat, the fit is exceptional. Warm, cozy, and classic all rolled into one. It makes me sad that winter has been so mild this year because I don't get to wear it more often.

I’m glad I didn’t take the advice of other reviewers and go with my usual size. I typically wear a medium in shirts and outerwear from J. Crew shirts as well as other brands. However, I already own an older Dock Peacoat in a size medium and it’s comically large. I am 5’ 11”, 185 pounds with a 40 inch chest for reference. I decided to take a chance with a size small and it fits absolutely perfect. Enough room for a sweater but it looks tailored to me and moves well without constriction. I suppose I’d recommend that if you’d like a generous baggier fit go TTS, but if you want a sleeker look (that’s still not skin tight) size down 1 size from your normal.

I got this for my husband, for our trip back home to Chicago, and he loved! It is warm as well as stylish, looks beautiful on him!

Purchased this great Peacoat in regular JC suggested size M. (5'9" 160 woman) and love it! I have a classic style during the workday - which is remarkably hard to shop. Always seeking perfect blend of truly timeless style and quality with updated fabric, fit, color, innovations. Herringbone pattern is subtle and adds dimension to the excellent true navy. Fit is slightly oversize on me - but tapers to the hip - allowing a cardigan/blazer combo beneath without bulk when being active. Length, weight, buttons/closure and pockets are also well designed and perfect for the truly classic look I wanted while keeping me warm. Glad I purchased.

I'm 5'8 and weigh about 145lb with a slender build. The XS fit really well, with the slight exception that the sleeves are maybe 1cm too long for me. It's nice and slim, but with enough room to layer up. I've been looking for a peacoat for a while, but most other peacoats out there have weird embellishments and things that I dislike. This one, on the other hand, is very classic and understated. And it looks a lot more expensive than what I paid for it. Really pleased with the purchase.
