Sweater-pant with geometric knit

I wanted to love this outfit but the knit stretched and the pants got knees in them before I got out of the house..sigh! The pants were short... Ankle length... not a fan. I looked sloppy within two hours.

After about eight-hours, I noticed considerable pilling, especially in the "seat" area of my pants; along the hip, where my tote bag likely rubbed against it; at the hem of the pants; as well as on the inner part of the sleeves and bust of the matching sweater. A half hour to 40 minutes with a sweater comb and electric shaver remedied any issues. My sweater set, once again, looks brand new! I can envision so many opportunities to style this, this winter and beyond! However, you may want to have a "de-piller" on hand to keep these particular garments looking their best! Finally, a note about the fit ... I'm 6'1 and wear an XL/XXL in most J.Crew items. The L/XL sweater runs generous. It looks slightly slouchy and falls to my mid hip. My pants are an XL and I, definitely, could have sized down to size L. Being tall, they fall in between an ankle and cropped length.

I tried on these pants (with the matching top) when I got it and I haven't taken it off all day. The pants are cozy without getting stretched out and they hang as they are shown in the photo. I am usually a size 8 in J.Crew bottoms and the medium in these fit perfectly.
