Runs small!
January 2, 2026If you can find the right size, this is a nice dress. I'm usually between a 12/14 in J. Crew. The 14 was too tight and the 16 would have required a seamstress to alter it. I ordered the black and agree with another reviewer that this fabric is not boucle - but it felt substantial enough and I probably would have kept it if one of the sizes had fit me better.

Nice design, terrible fabric
December 21, 2025The positive reviews on this dress are really surprising. The material is awful! To call it boucle seems misleading (as boucle typically has wool) and I somehow missed that this is 100% viscose. It just feels cheap and has that viscose sheen to it. (J.Crew- please stop with the viscose already!) The dress I received also has a manufacturing defect, where the lining sticks up past the neckline and can’t be put back in place. All that aside, the color is lovely and it is cut well. I typically take a 2 or 4, and the 4 fit well; at 5’4 it came just below my knees. (I wish it had pockets though.)
