Collection pleated evening dress in taffeta

Proper fit is the key to the success or failure this dress. I’m 5’ 8.5” tall and 131 lbs for reference. I have a slender yet athletic build (shoulders). I was hesitant to buy this gown without seeing it and trying it on in person, because it will not be flattering unless it fits like a glove. I bought the glacier grey color (which is nothing like the blues of a real “glacier”, but rather a soft, warm, understated dove grey). If you have a larger chest, this dress may not be for you. The taffeta is really pretty and has just a hint of subtle sheen, but there’s zero give, no stretch. I’m a 36B and the size 6 just fit me, and is snug on the rib cage. The invisible side pockets are the bomb! The pictures online are pretty accurate. Idk where I’ll be wearing this rather fancy gown, but after a little steaming, it’ll be ready to show off.

Fabric is stiff. I saw a review that said it was ‘big all around, but especially large on top’ hoping that it would comfortably fit my chest (42” bust) but it kinda squishes my chest down when I inhale. I wonder if this is just a function of the fabric being so stiff that it can’t move with my body because when I exhale it is less squished. The quality is also just ok, looking at the stitching on the inside you wouldn’t be able to tell this is a designer-quality ‘collection’ dress. Other reviews also made it seem like there was an excess of fabric at the hem but it kind of seems like a normal amount for an A line formal dress, in fact the inverted pleats at the waist make it feel less billowy. I’m not really getting any Audrey Hepburn with this but maybe it’s because I ordered it in grey. Unfortunately it’s final sale so I can’t return but maybe I can try to get it tailored.

This dress is cut in an elegant, classic fit that will always be flattering. The images do not do this dress justice, it is simply stunning in real life. It does need some serious steaming upon arrival, but is worth the effort.

I wanted to love this dress because it is so versatile, but it was a lot of material even in a smaller size. That said, it is very well made and I think if I were on the taller side this would be a fantastic dress. For the price point, if you are tall (and I am only 5'1"), go for it. So many ways to wear this one!

This is a lovely Audrey Hepburn style dress! Wore to a wedding with pearls and kitten heels. Being 5'3, the size 4 was long on me (mid calf) which I preferred. Has a nice sheen to the black

The dress is very pretty and looks festive for the holidays, but it runs large. My daughter always wears a size 2 in J.Crew dresses, but this was big all around, but especially large on the top
