Curvy toothpick jean in true black

These are great pants and they look really good on. But they run very small. I’m always a 24 in curvy jeans and a 24/25 in regular toothpick jeans. But this pant I needed to size up at least one for them to fit. The 24 I couldn’t even pull up!!! They also have a slightly larger opening at the ankle. So it does not fit tightly like some Jcrew toothpick jeans do.

Why J. Crew would make a "curvy" jean with only 2% elastane is beyond me, but these are noticeably uncomfortable and inflexible in comparison to other washes of the same style. I normally wear a 29 in the Curvy Toothpick jean, but bought these in a 30 due to the low stretch percentage - and I still could barely get them halfway up my thighs before I gave up. Sadly returning.

I've bought many pairs of size 26 J Crew toothpick jeans, and most have fit perfectly; the one or two times I've gotten size 27, they've been too big. I guess that's why I ordered these jeans in 26, despite other customers' warning they run small. Really small! (Also uncomfortably high waisted — I'm so glad lower rise is coming back.) It's really annoying, since the jeans are marked final sale. J Crew, please size your jeans consistently!

I did not read the reviews before my purchase. Bad idea! I tried these on and instantly felt like I had put on 5lbs without stepping on a scale. I would definitely need to size up one or even two sizes to wear these comfortably. These jeans like most things JCrew make, were good quality. Just very small.

I have about 10 pairs of jeans from Jcrew in different styles and denim composition. I do not like too much stretch, and do not rely on stretch to get into my jeans. I ordered my normal size 27 which has been consistently reliable. When I finally got these over my hips and bottom, there was a good 3 inch space that was not going to allow me to zip these up. I immediately went to my closet, and pulled out another pair of brand new Jcrew jeans I bought, also in the curvy toothpick style, made with the exact same composition of denim and stretch, only in white denim. The white pair went on very easily, and fit was perfect just the same as all my other Jcrew jeans in size 27. I would say this particular pair of 27 jeans fits more like a 25. If I actually fit in these, I would have to throw away all my other jeans in size 27 because they would all be at least 2 sizes too big.

I bought these on final sale, and just thought I would put my sizing thoughts in for your reference. I am almost always between a 28 or 29 in j.Crew and madewell jeans, I bought these in 29 based on reviews that said they ran small. I can wear them, but they are definitely small. I would size up one more size if they had a 30 in stock. The quality of the jean material and the color is phenomenal the fit feels fantastic, I just need to wear with looser tops.
