The story of khakis begins in 1845 in India, when British soldiers dirtied their white uniforms to camouflage them ("khaki" means dust-colored in Urdu). Recognizing the military advantage, the British army officially adopted the color for warm-weather uniforms, and later that century, the U.S. military issued khakis during the Spanish-American War. As militarywear generally does, the style made its way into civilian life, when American GIs returning from WWII repurposed their khakis as everydaywear, making them a staple of modern-day casual style.
The chinos (aka khakis) for the guy who's looking for a slim fit that's actually easy to move (and sit) in. First launched in 2003, our Broken-in chinos are made from heavily washed cotton twill that give them a vintage look with the timeworn characteristics of a well-aged pair of jeans.
