7" short in garment-dyed cotton

These are true to size. I ordered one size up (for hubby) and they fit him big. Reordered in his usual size 35 and they fit perfect. They're a clean cut fit-length is perfection.

I just bought these and they’re very small in the waist. I have several other pairs of J. Crew shorts and these are the smallest. Great J. Crew styling and fabric, just snug. I thought it might be covid weight, but they’re the same size as other shorts I bought this spring. I’d recommend going a size up!

I loved everything about these shorts except that they tore wide open in washing machine (modern high efficiency, no agitator) on the third wash. I'm not looking for heirloom quality out of a pair of shorts but they literally didn't last a single season. Very disappointed.

I have turned to J.Crew and RL for years now for my polos, shorts and weekend wear. The comfort, ease of wear and versatility of these brands as well as the durability can't be beat. I seriously have some shorts that are 12+ years old and they still look great! Buttons intact, zippers still zip and no tears. Quality and style= what I expect and what I get every time! However, this time I was sadly disappointed that my new khaki shorts are running small. I sadly gained a few kilos during the Covid lockdown and had to adjust all of clothes to accommodate the extra weight. However, the Sz. 38 waist is not a generous 38" by any means. Other shorts in 34 and 36 have always been roomy and fit. But these fell short (pun intended) of my expectations. Of course I tore off all the tags and threw them away thinking I'll love them- like I do everything else, so I can't return them. So, I'll try to shed the weight and hope I'll be able to wear them later this summer. Thanks and happy summer 2021!
