Wallace & Barnes pleated military officer's chino pant
rugged essentials inspired by traditional workwear, old military uniforms and classic outdoor gear. Our designers drew inspiration from U.S. military officer uniforms circa World War I for these pants, made from cotton twill that's been washed for a lived-in look. We also kept the seamless (aka Hollywood) waistband common on styles of the era. Cut in a relaxed fit, they're an easy everyday go-to that will look better the more you wear them. By buying cotton products from J.Crew, you're supporting more responsibly grown cotton through the Better Cotton Initiative.

The shape just doesn't work
December 21, 2020I agree with another reviewer here that the taper from thighs to ankles is just too dramatic. The thighs are somewhat larger than say a 770 pant, but the ankles are so thin that I had trouble getting them over my feet. It also creates a weird silhouette that looks like to totally different pants stitched together at the knee. It also has virtually no give, which isn't fun when the pants get so slim. Sadly, not a home-run.

Taper = nothing like the excellent Officers Chino
December 10, 2020With all of the "stretch" and "slim" nonsense dominating J.Crew's menswear, the classic Wallace & Barnes Officers Chino is a rare hit these days with normal straight leg and affirming vanity sizing my ego appreciates. They are wonderful pants. I wish they came in a dark "British" khaki. While the quality of stitching and twill cloth are great, and the color is attractive (if a shade darker than I wish for) these pleated versions are nothing like the originals and should shed the "officers" moniker - the taper is far too radical. I could barely get them over my heel. Are we not in a looser-fitting era now? Is a straight leg not widely appreciated? Returning.

Great Twist on Military Officer's Chino
September 4, 2020These just arrived on my doorstep today (a Thursday), and I am already planning on wearing them this weekend. These fit like the traditional Military Officer's Chino (which I also enjoy) around the waist and upper thigh (roomy), then become more tapered from there. The quality of the material and craftsmanship are top notch. The color on the website it accurate to the garment. But, what makes these special are the two pleats. They give these chinos just enough character to make them a complete standout! I am hoping J. Crew offers these in additional colors. On point!
