The Most Laundry-Sensitive T-Shirt I've Ever Owned
1 day agoI really wanted to love this T-shirt. The fit is excellent, the fabric weight is just about perfect, and J.Crew offers some fantastic colors. Unfortunately, it's also the most laundry-sensitive T-shirt I've ever owned. I've now had multiple Broken-In Tees develop permanent faded spots from routine laundering. One shirt developed a faded spot after contact with OxiClean, another developed a similar faded spot from a small amount of Tide Free & Gentle liquid detergent before it had fully diluted in the wash, and another experienced localized color loss after an attempt to shrink it slightly in the dryer. I own shirts from L.L.Bean, Banana Republic, Proper Cloth, Target, Kent Wang, and several other brands, and I've never had anything like this happen with any of them. To be clear, I'm not talking about bleach or unusually harsh chemicals. I'm talking about normal household laundry products and ordinary laundering. These garment-dyed shirts simply seem to be far more delicate than any other T-shirt I've owned. If you buy one, I'd strongly recommend: * Never pour liquid detergent directly onto the shirt. * Make sure detergent is fully diluted before adding the garment. * Avoid oxygen cleaners like OxiClean. * Follow the care instructions carefully and handle these shirts more gently than you probably would any other T-shirt. It's a shame, because otherwise these are among the nicest-fitting casual T-shirts I've owned. I really wanted to love this shirt.
