Double-breasted topcoat in English merino wool

I’m 5’-7” 170lb with a 42” chest and a 32” waist and purchased a 38S and it fits great. I was lucky to try it on in person during the winter and found out a 40R was too large. It went on sale and I knew I was a 38S and copped it before it sold out. Beautiful coat .. bought it during a heat wave ironically but now I’m excited to wear it in the winter. Amazing quality and it looks even better in person.

I am not happy with my purchase. The sizing information on the website is incorrect. The size chart lists alpha sizes and measurements, which is not helpful in selecting the right size. With that said, you generally match overcoat sizes to jackets, which I did. For reference, I'm 5'11" and all of my J.Crew suit jackets in 36R fit me perfectly. But this coat fits large around the waist and the legs, and it falls well below my knees, creating an unflattering look. That is disappointing because it is a beautiful coat with great material; it has perfect weight and is warm for winter. I was really excited for it.

My husband really likes the coat. We tried other coats that were two to three times as expensive, and this one is basically on par with them for a much better price.
