American Trench^™ athletic stripe socks

I am confused about the description of these socks. The description on the J Crew website says Merino Wool but when i got these the socks say, "70% Cotton, 22% Nylon, 4% Spandex, 4% Anti-microbial Silver Machine wash." I have wide ankles and when the socks are pulled up the fabric stretches. This makes the green socks look white. Definitely not the look when going out for a jog.
