What customers are saying:
Customers really love the coat for its high-quality materials, versatile style, and comfortable warmth, with many enjoying its ability to easily transition from a casual day out to dressing up for a special occasion. The design details, like deep pockets and the stylish tartan lining, were also highlighted as attractive features. Several customers noted that the coat tends to run large and recommended sizing down for a better fit. Overall, the coat comes through as both a functional and stylish option for cold weather with a few simple adjustments for the best fit.

Just Shy of Great
February 10, 2026Overall, I like this coat, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. I caught it on sale for $450 and that feels about right. I would agree with other reviewers that the heavily padded shoulders make the silhouette a little boxy, but I actually like the generous fit in the body and I especially appreciate the full length. The substantial fabric drapes nicely. I do wish the sleeves were cut with a similar allowance though, because they are more snug than I would like when I wear this over a suit jacket. They're fine over sweaters, however. My other complaint goes for a lot of J.Crew's clothing. They go through the effort to source quality fabrics, which is the case here, but then slap on the cheapest buttons they can find. They look acceptable from a distance, but up close you can see they are flimsy plastic with an unnaturally shiny finish. I do love the fabric, and I especially like the tartan print on the lining. To me, this is just a few tweaks shy of being worth their full asking price, but on sale it's a nice coat that I enjoy wearing.

Husband loves it
January 7, 2026Beautiful coat. This was a gift for my husband and he absolutely loves it. It's a beautiful well made overcoat and he will definitely get a lot of use out of it this NYC winter. My only complaint is that it is very large and shapeless, so it doesn't look quite as nice as I would prefer, but he absolutely loves it and prefers the more casual style that the shape provides. He will definitely be wearing it all winter long.

High quality coat
December 31, 2025I bought this coat for the cold New England winters and so far it has provided warmth. I have wide shoulders so I purchased a 46L which was perfect for my arm and back, but it is slightly larger through the waist and legs. I will probably have it taken in a bit there, but overall a high quality well made coat.

Top coat
December 26, 2025It's nice coat with the wool/materials. However the fit, especially by the shoulders looks and feels off. I'm typically a size 42s for all my coats but I feel a 40s would fit better.
