What customers are saying:
The canvas pants feature a sturdy, heavy cotton fabric with a unique workwear vibe while offering a refined, dressy look. Customers really appreciated the vibrant, true-to-life colors and the textured finish, noting details like subtle whiskering and a smooth, non-starchy feel. They found the versatile style works great for both work and casual wear, perfectly suited for fall and winter. A few customers suggested considering a size up, as the inseam tends to run a bit short for those who like to cuff their pants.

Nice pants, but too small
February 1, 2018These are nice canvas pants, if a little unique in the fact that they are essentially a "workwear" type fabric in a "dress" style design. I felt comfortable ordering them as a non-return sale item since J. Crew is usually good about sizing, but it was obvious before I had both legs in the pants that they were too short. They were also more snug than I typically find in my J. Crew pant size - to the point where there was no way they were going to button. If you are on the fence about sizing, definitely order up a size in both waist and length. So my four star review is based on inconsistent sizing, not quality of the pant. I would recommend, just try them on in store, or make sure you can return before ordering to be sure to get the right size for you.

Color is not the same as picture, but still great
October 16, 2017I got the tan colored one and it's actually a darker caramel, almost orange-ish brown. Duck-like in fabric and has a rough and bumpy texture. It's a great alternative to cords and has a nice medium weight and thickness to it. Great fall/winter pants to rotate in between some heavy raw denim. Fit and cut are true just like all the 770's. Goes very nice with my Red Wing Iron Ranger boots and always with the cuff my fellow gents :)

work wear meet office wear
September 12, 2017The fabric is a heavy cotton, like cotton duck workwear, and the cut is refined chino. An excellent pairing of materials and style. The fit is somewhere between a 770 and 484, meaning its neither too closely fitted, nor too loose and baggy. In short, I love these pants! They're great for work as well as casual wear because you can dress them up, with a jacket, or down, with an untucked shirt or t-shirt. Both colours are amazing. Rich blue, and deep khaki. All you need for fall.

Perfect hue of classic canvas pant material
September 12, 2017One of J Crew's better pants in a long time, they don't list what oz. the canvas is & it isn't starchy & heavy like a 14oz pair of raw jeans so i'd say these are around 12oz range. I'm actually getting some slight whiskering and combs in the back of the knees similar to a good pair of jeans. The hickory color is spot on while the blue is very blue, never seen that bright of blue of canvas before. Only thing is that it seems that the inseam is shorter than normal. I have a few pair of 770 32" inseam jeans and these 32" inseam canvas pants seem to run a bit short. I usually can cuff a pair of 32" 770 jeans however with these pants the 32" inseam doesn't quite allow for it. That's probably my only con. They will probably be my go to pant for fall/winter when i'm not wearing jeans. I prefer the texture of canvas to cords and i also appreciate the chino pocket styling as it's more versatile vs. a 5 pocket patch pocket setup.
