770™ Straight-fit flannel-lined cabin pant

First of all, as another reviewer pointed out, these pants are not at all the color as displayed in the photos. They are much more of a dark, plain brown. But the flannel pattern is a great contrast to the pants. I get a ton of compliments when wearing cuffed. They look great with boots of any kind. These are an awesome rainy weather/cold weather pant. Especially for a somewhat casual work environment. I do find the flannel lining makes the pants virtually inflexible though. So I definitely would lean large when sizing.

There is a slight difference in how these pants fit compared to other 770s. The lining is somewhat generous, which is great on a cold day, but does make them fit a bit tighter.

I normally fit comfortably in a 34 waist -30 inseam, style 770 pants from J. Crew. These, however, were a little small when I wore them out of the package and then when washed in cold water got unbearably small! I will probably have to give them away now which is too bad because they are awesome looking.

These do not compare to the similar chinos I bought at South Street Seaport years ago, which are a regular fit. These are beyond a slim fit, the old regular fit (30" waist) fit like the new pair, which are a 32" waist. Flannel feels thinner, although cotton is still heavy-weight, and took a while to hang dry. I am now disappointed with the quality of J. Crew, and definitely the fit. My vintage pair I like the fit. Nothing from J. Crew feels innovative.

My husband has muscular legs and the 770 pants fit him very well. We hates anything too tight in his thighs. I wish there were more color options available and I also wish they came in a shorter length than 30” as I had to have these hemmed. But very good stylish pants for men who don’t have skinny remedy physique.
