Camp-collar shirt in Indian madras

I've been trying to make my wardrobe more sophisticated but most of the occasions I have to wear to are pretty casual. This, I've found, is a great way to still be casual but achieve a more put-together, sophisticated look. (Standard advice for an elevated casual look that's like "wear a sportcoat" is so unbelievably dated and unrealistic. The baseline expectation for most occasions is so casual these days that it would be cringe to show up in a sportcoat to them - unless you're like 50+ years old.) That's all to say, I like the shirt and the style of shirt.

The plaid pattern is reminiscent of madras, but the shirt is NOT madras. Otherwise, excellent quality. Comfortable. Slightly larger than usual.

This is a relaxed fit camp shirt, as it should be for summer wear. I purchased the over-printed batik version. Have washed and worn once. It is still a bit stiff and scratchy, but I'm confident it will soften with further washings. I have a 25 year-old version of this item from another brand that I dearly love, but it's becoming faded & threadbare. I hope this one is in my closet just as long.
