Wallace & Barnes 7.5" ripstop camp short

This fabric and the overall construction get an A+. Little stiff right out of the box and the fit may seem weird at first as a result, but after wearing for a bit they're incredibly well-fitting and comfortable. The fabric is heavy-duty, thicker than expected, but has a lot of stretch. The waistband is fantastic, good firm elastic, and the S is perfect for my 30" waist. Fit in the thigh is substantially looser than the cotton-linen ones but they're not billowy. Love them.

I really like the ripstop material. It's rugged and functional. And the navy shorts have great, deep pockets. I'm thinking about getting them in olive as well. I could see wearing these far into the fall season.

Loved my navy pair so much I bought the olive too. Wanted mid-length shorts to beat the midwestern heat that were A) light and stretchy without looking techy or loungy B) are cottony without looking preppy, & C) come dark earth tones. These fit the bill! FWIW — I think these run true to size. They are a true mid-rise (sitting on the hip bones) & have room to sit/squat without cutting off circulation. This is unlike my older mainline J. Crew (and even some W&B) shorts, which run small, low rise, and slim. Maybe that’s what other reviewers are used to? Would give 5 star ratings, but: - 1 pair developed a snag out of nowhere after just 3 wears at home (thankfully ripstop means unraveling won’t spread) - Would prefer choice of 7” or 6” varieties - Would be perfect shorts with addition of a fly. No button waistband needed - a zip fly would go far to increase the wearability of these

Don’t get the negative reviews here. I’m 5 5’10”/170 and the fit on the small is perfect. They hit right where you would expect for 7.5” and there is just the right amount of room in the legs, especially if you plan to do some walking or hiking. These shorts have just a little stretch, and the poly/cotton material makes them suitable for Birkenstocks or sneakers. Versatile everyday short.

No taper on leg whatsoever, just like wearing a skirt, which is weird cause the waist size fits fine. I have other items by WB and are not this baggy.

I'm beginning to think that some people are unable to measure their own bodies. I have a 32in waist and ordered the medium. They fit good and are well-made. JCrew does have sizing issues with some items, but these are not in that group. Period.
