Quality is decent. The pockets are novel and that’s why I purchased them. However, they seem a bit long and awkwardly cut. Had quite a bit of fraying around button holes within first week of wear.

These are a great shorts version of the M-43 pants that US soldiers wore in WWII. A previous review noted that it's only got the cargo pockets, which is just how those pants were originally made. The cotton/hemp blend fabric seems pretty tough and they fit me perfectly. (Other J. Crew shorts in my normal size all feel too tight.) Thanks also for the button fly -- true to the original and also has the benefit of preventing awkward "tenting" at the crotch when you sit down.

Be warned, these shorts ONLY have cargo pockets. They lack the normal side pockets and back pockets, and are thus less rather than more functional than typical shorts.
