Rugged merino pullover hoodie in plaid

Bought this as a Christmas gift, so I can not comment on the size or fit (yet!- though to review this is required, please don't use my info on that to help with a purchase decision!). I did expect the merino wool to be a bit softer to the touch. It is not a thick sweater and I feel my recipient will want a layer between the sweater and his skin due to the feel of the fabric. Most surprising was how dark the sweater was in colour. In the photo it appears to be distinctly black and white with green and rust lines through the plaid. The sweater I received is black with medium tone grey with the rust and green lines. The overall effect is something less crisp and luxe in appearance that what I thought I was buying. It looks far more like an inexpensive flannel.

When I saw it on the J. Crew site I fell in love with it and i knew i had to have it. It's even nice on. I love the material the fit and everything about it. I wore it for the first time the other day when it got cold around here, not only it kept me warm got a lot of compliment

Cool hoodie. Definitely more dressy and eye catching than your standard cotton hoodie. Might require a long sleeve undershirt for some people as it's not as soft as typical merino. The main problem is the fit in the body. There is zero contour from the pits/chest down to the waist, one big box. Definitely makes you look bulky. I almost always am a true medium in J. Crew, but this one I could have probably pulled off a small with the current fit.
