Do not buy - they will squeak
June 14, 2026I really liked these shoes and thought I would get lucky and avoid the squeaking everyone reported. I was wrong. After a few wears the shoes started to squeak loudly and are essentially unusable. Very unfortunate as they are good looking and otherwise seem to be of good quality.

March 7, 2026I have worn these only a few times. They were very uncomfortable at first. I thought they might break in and get better. The only thing that happened is that they started squeaking very loudly with every step. They look nice and seem to be well made, but they are not wearable at all. I am seeing numerous similar reviews. The website says they can't be returned or exchanged. They are clearly defective, so should be credited or replaced by J. Crew. Trust in brand severely shaken.

Great high quality shoes
January 11, 2026I bought these two months ago. Reviews complained of squeaking soles. Since the price was reduced i decided to give them a try. I have experienced no problems at all. These are extremely high quality shoes. similar to Allen Edmund shoes i own.

Great pair of shoes
January 4, 2026Great pair of shoes for the price. Proper goodyear welted. The only thing I disliked is how wide the toe box is. For reference, I wear 8D and the size 8 is slightly too wide.

Squeak squeak squeak.
December 18, 2025These shoes look great - but the squeak makes them almost unbearable. They squeak at the heel and under the ball of my foot. I’ll have to take them to a cobbler to get it fixed.

December 4, 2025The quality and style is great -- but the squeak is there! It is in the leather bottom sole of the shoe, soa resole would get rid of it, but it must be something with the leather they used or the construction of it. nonetheless, not too big of a deal, if you get it on sale.
