484 Slim-fit five-pocket tech pant

I like the cut of the 484 slim pants and have several pairs in various stretch fabrics. This was my first pair of the tech fabric. I love the fit and the feel.

but my sweat had created a weird mottled pattern the first time I wore them in the summer and then when I washed them it left orange streaks. Another reviewer reported this problem, but only with the green color - mine are (or, rather, were) gray. Otherwise, they fit great, they're light and dry well, they're comfortable and I love the security pocket (makes up for the fact that the back pockets are too shallow). But if you sweat on them, they may not last.

I’d spill my brains if they weren’t inside my skull. I spill literally everything and it’s usually on my pants and on the way to work. Having a waterproof pant that is flexible and stylish gives me one less thing to worry about when sipping my favorite beverage.

I really like these pants. However I ordered two colors, both the exact same size, and one pair fits much different than the other pair (shorter length). Otherwise, these are great.

I've avoided "tech" pants since I bought an expensive pair (from another company) that fit well when I put them on in the morning and then, within a few hours, stretched out so I had to tighten my belt two notches. The generous sale price on these prompted me to try again. Unfortunately, I had the same experience as I did before, even though I did size down. Generally, there is practically no sizing consistency in clothing purchased online. Apparently, the retailer has no power over this -- to the degree that many are offering to send two pants with different sizes or styles. If you're lucky, one will fit and you can return the other. Unfortunately, J Crew doesn't allow returns at all on sale items like these. Luckily, I have a young client who sags his pants and he went home with a gift two days after these arrived! Moral of the story: Don't buy anything you can't return.

I've recently become a fan of these pants, and now they are my daily choice, replacing the Levi's that I've been buying for literally decades. They work well in any temp, the fit is great, and the material is so comfortable. It's the perfect blend of casual and dressy, and I can wear them just running errands or to the office. They also work great with a jacket for heading to the pub after work (the limited amount we can do that these days). Love em.
