Alighieri X J.Crew a life unlocked belt

Just when I thought I didn’t need another black belt, this one showed up while I was browsing. Beautifully made belt, gorgeous leather, and the gold embellishments really make it stand apart.

The Alighieri X J.Crew A Life Unlocked belt is nice but not what I hoped. The metal buckle & fish charm are the same detailed, high gloss metal. (I prefer the matt tone of the Life Unlocked necklace.). The leather is Italian. My disappointment lies in the charm. There is no key hole as in the necklace charm & depicted on- line in 2 of 4 photos. The allegory for which Alighieri is famous is lost without that detail. I am on the fence about keeping the belt at this price while I love the necklace. Part of my purchase decision was that I could repurpose the charm into a lather corded necklace once the leather belt expired. A fish necklace is not nearly as intriguing as a fish lock charm. For quick reference the Medium belt is 41” long. The last hole creates a size of 31”. I knew this belt was black when purchasing so this thought does not reflect in my star review. I would prefer a Navy or other blue leather belt for a sea life creature. It would be much more summer wearable in my wardrobe.
