What customers are saying:
Customers really enjoyed the comfy stretch and classic dark wash of these jeans, which offer a versatile look that works well for both casual and dressier occasions. Many recommended sizing down, as a good number found the jeans to run larger than expected, ensuring a snug waist and hip fit. The raw, tapered leg design and midweight denim added a modern edge that appealed to a wide range of body types—from athletic to curvy. Overall, the style, fabric, and flattering finish make these jeans a popular, stylish pick.

Strange sizing. Darker color than photo
January 20, 2022My first pair of perfect slim vintage jeans were in the charcoal color and a near perfect fit - I love that the looser cut and straight leg. I ordered a 30 (my usual size), and they fit well. I later purchased the white jeans as well as this wash in the same size. This Rockport wash was not nearly as whiskered as shown in the pictures. It's really a nice, classic dark jean with an unfinished hem. But the 30 was way way bigger than the charcoal pair I had and slightly bigger than the white jean (which, was slightly larger than the charcoal). Bc I loved the wash, I purchased the 29 (all on final sale, unreturnable), and they are also too big. Almost to the point where I thought I was accidentally shipped a curvy size. I'm not willing to go for a 3rd pair to get the size right, but buyer beware - you may need 2 sizes smaller in this wash. JCrew - can you please keep sizing consistent across washes - especially in the same cut? This seems obvious.

Great jeans but they run large
January 19, 2022I have the vintage straight jeans in other washes. This one seems to be about two sizes smaller than the others with the same size. They also have way more stretch too. It’s fine with me too since I tend to shrink things in the dryer. I still love them and am glad to find higher waisted jeans that I can wear all day and be comfortable working from home. They fit a middle aged person like myself. the vintage straight jeans remind me a lot of the J crew jeans I had in college in the late 90s.

Big is an understatement
January 4, 2022I love the feel of these jeans. Just the right stretch. As an hourglass figure, jeans are hard to find that fit my thighs and waist. That being said, I never had to buy 2 or 3 sizes down! Maybe I lost a bit of weight, but not that much! Following reviews, I bought a size down 29 in tall (so I can roll up the hem). I'm between a 29 and 30. It's still too big! This fits like it's larger than 30. I'll make it work with a belt. But went back hoping a 27 should fit...

Cute but runs big and high
December 8, 2021PROS:Cute fabric & color. Great length. CONS: HUGE in the waist and really high waisted - seems much higher than 9". Not flattering or comfortable at all. (JCrew - will you PLEASE make some cute jeans that don't cut into my rib cage???) TIP: size down.

What is up with the cut hem ?
November 18, 2021I’m not certain I like the cut hem . I’m used to a sewn hem . Also they seem a bit short . I purchased a regular length . I am 5’6” and they are real close to being to short . They do run a couple sizes larger then jeans I have purchased in the past from jcrew
