Button-up cotton poplin dress in stripe

I have been shopping a JCrew since the early 90s and it has always been one of my favorite go to brands. Sadly, I have feared that the brand is no longer worthy of my business. This is a very cute dress, seemingly well made (if extremely wrinkled upon arrival) and with a very flattering design. It also runs 1 to 2 sizes small. However, the quality is extremely lacking. The material in the front of the bodice of the dress has an eight inch vertical defect in the fabric, and there is a four inch spot in the side seam at the hem where not enough seam allowance was let for the top stitching and the fabric is raw and fraying. There is no repair for this. The dress to my standards is basically unwearable. Sadly I need it for a white dress code midsummer party tomorrow, so I have to wear it and just try to forget about the defects. I will dispose of it (donate) after the one wear. Very sad, as that truly is the definition of fast fashion.

I own this in the blue/white thin stripe and the white. I love them both. Perfect fit and length. Very flattering as the top is fitted and the below that it has a nice soft flare that doesn’t make your hips look big. For reference I’m 5’5”, 123lbs, 34-26-37. Bought XS/2

I am 5’5” and normally wear a Regular Size Small or Regular 6 . After reading the reviews, I sized up and so glad I did. I am a 36D and even though I sized up to an 8 It was more snug than I like in the chest so I got a 10 and love how it fits. This dress is absolutely gorgeous and the quality is outstanding. It looks amazing on. I love it so much that I got both the striped and the floral. Grab this while you can. By the way the length was perfect.

I bought this dress in the floral print to wear for Easter. I was a little unsure about sizing, as my ribcage expanded (and never contracted) after I gave birth. The dress fit perfect in my usual size and looks like a dream! So slimming. It's fully-lined, which gives it a high quality feel, and the zipper in the back means you don't have to fool with all those tiny buttons in the front. If they'd just add pockets to this dress I'd live in it!

Reading other reviews on this dress had me confused- size up or down? so I called customer service. They recommended I get a size 2 (34b) and boy am I glad that sized I sized down from my usual 4. It fits me so perfectly in the chest that the dress just falls away. No need to wear a bra almost! I chose the stripe. Beautifully made- lined and love the buttons and the very long skirt. Please make more maxi dresses!! Navy! Pockets would have made this even more perfect. I’ll be wearing this with my Madewell jean jacket ! Recommend highly. Going back for the floral!!

I loved the style of this dress, and usually wear a Petite 10, but I ordered the Petite 12 to allow for J Crew sometimes making Petites narrower, instead of just proportionately shorter. As a comparison I just bought a J Crew Petite size 1 linen skirt that fits perfectly. However, this dress was so narrow that it literally gapped a couple inches across my chest that could not be fastened. (I'm a 36B). I'm so disappointed. Also, the bodice was much too long, with the breast area coming up above my breasts.
