Midi party dress in shirting stripes

I read all the reviews before making a purchase of this dress, so I was well aware of the darts in the bust thing. I saw a girl wearing this dress on the internet, and the darts was very noticeable in that photo too. But when the dress arrived and I put it on for the first time, surprisingly there was no darts on my dress. Maybe it's just the petite sizes, or it just didn't appear on my body frame, I don't know, but mine was perfect and I am so happy. Mine looks exactly like the photos J.Crew put online. Can't wait to wear this dress! The length was mid-calf for me, and looks very elegant on. For reference I'm 30C or 32B, 4'9, 90 lbs.

This is a beautiful dress. My regular size 2 fit perfectly (32c, 5'6, 133 lbs) the size hits me right below my knee which I love. The other reviewers were right, there is a very weird pleat that I ended up having to sew down myself so that they were even. Without these extra couple stitches, the top looks lopsided. But it can easily be fixed by a tailor.

This was dress was cute and fit well except for one major design flaw. The bodice has these darts that make it stick out odly. I don't know who this was designed to fit - possibly someone cardbaord flat like the model, but if you have breasts at all, this dress is hopeless. Even trying to pull it directly over one breast to fill it out more, it still sticks out in a weird way. Jcrew needs to remove this from sale.

I had high hopes for this dress, despite the sort of buttoned-up look of it. Overall the fit was great (tts)- but the darts in the bust made noticeable "points" (as another reviewer commented on). No bueno. It went back.

So happy with this purchase! The dress fits perfectly and is very comfortable. Easy to dress it up or wear it casually with flat sandals. I have been considering shortening the skirt to be just below the knee, instead of mid calf, but I’ve already worn it three times as is and love the look. I’m also looking forward to paring it with boots and a sweater in the fall.

Overall, this is a great dress. It runs true to size and with a good steam the shirting fabric is nice and wrinkle free so far. That being said, there is something odd going on with the crease/dart thing on the side of the chest that overlaps on top of the other side. They didn't stitch the dart/fold up far enough, so it flaps out and unfolds and looks just odd and sticks out. It is especially noticeable from the side profile. If you look in the photos, you can't tell that it has this issue because they carefully displayed it very flat looking. If you have a larger cup size and fully fill out the top, maybe it won't be an issue, but with an A/B cup, it definitely sticks out and doesn't lay flat. Its a shame because otherwise I love this dress. I may hand-stitch it down a few more inches to see if that helps the issue.
