Tie-front Lurex® dress in mixed print

It's hard to see in the model photos, but the front of this dress is open well below the front ties. You can sort of see the open area below the knot in the first image. Some strategic tying and maybe double sided tape are going to be necessary to keep my navel covered. The tie ends are long enough to go around the back and tie in front to make a waistband. It's still beautiful, seems well made and is true to size. Side note: This dress is obviously a return. It smells strongly of someone's perfume.

When I first saw this dress online, I could not get it out of my mind. I have never paid this much for a dress, but I was enchanted! The honeymoon was over once the dress arrived and I put it on. The gold blob/dots are much larger than I could have imagined they would be. Small gold threads came out and stuck to my skin when I was taking it off. The "waist" hits at an unflattering place high on the ribcage, and is not fitted enough for a small-bodied person. The neckline gapes, and could have used at least one snap. Even when I pinned it in place, it still exposed my bra beneath the bow. The hem was almost floor-length. The dress has no zipper, so you have to either step into it or pull it over your head. I am beyond disappointed that this didn't work, but so thankful for J. Crew's return policy. For reference, I am 5'5" tall, weigh 110 lbs., and ordered the XS. I think it might look better on a taller, larger individual, but beware of the neckline issue.

Bought this on a whim in store for an upcoming wedding and its so pretty, my mom told me to get it immediately. It's comfortable, and flows well, and the metallic thread really elevates it. Also, if you tie the bow right, you can get away with wearing a regular bra which is a win for me. I agree with the other reviewer that it does run large. I am a large 4, small 6 (5'4/140 lbs, muscular broad shoulders, 34C). I often take a M in Jcrew sweaters and I was able to comfortably fit into the XS, I even think a small would have been too big since this is already a very flowy dress.

I'm 5'4", so I expected this to be a little long since most models are taller than that. It was full-length on me, which is fine. Unfortunately for me, the top section was also long, meaning the tie front was below my bra strap. I usually wear size 16/18, so ordered an xl. I suspect the next size down will be too small. I'm returning it, but it is truly beautiful. Even prettier in person than on the website. It is definitely worth a try for most figures. And it's on sale.
