V-back linen shirt-dress

I bought this dress in size 8 which is 2 sizes above my usual based on the reviews and they sent me a size 00 😒. All of my orders this season with jcrew have been disasters and they couldn’t deliver single order for the events I planned. right not to mention the whole mishap with their “technical issue” with pricing this week.

I absolutely LOVE this dress! I love everything linen in general so as soon as I saw it, I grabbed it. I wasn't sure if it was going to look super drab on me, as it's a neutral color, but it looks really pretty on. It's the perfect background for any color you want to add with accessories. The puffed sleeves and then the low V back when you turn add just the right amount of femininity to make you look understated but supremely elegant. I can dress it down with flat sandals or up with heels. I usually am between 0 and 2 in size. The 0 in this dress made the buttons gape a little around my mid-section. The 2 ended up being perfect. It's also the perfect travel dress as it's linen so it's supposed to be wrinkled! My favorite dress right now!

Beautiful dress, but way too small. The quality is up to par, but as others mentioned, go 2 sizes up. I usually wear a 12, but I could barely fit this over my shoulders. I understand linen doesn't stretch and I should've taken this into consideration. The dress is lined, so no see through issues. I'm sad to return this dress.

So I am writing this review for petite size, for some reason I couldn't write under the petite page. This is a beautiful dress, great quality BUT holy moly, it runs TINY. I am usually Petite 2 or 4 and got 4 based on the review and I could not even button this up. I knew it was tiny even before I tried it on. P4 felt like 00! However, since it was so cute, I am re-ordering in size P8 because that's how cute it is and I am hoping the P8 will fit. Order at least 2 sizes up, esp if you have generous chest size (34C for me).

I ordered 2 sizes up from my normal size and it fits perfectly. 1 size larger would have been too snug. You cannot go too small, because the whole front of the dress buttons closed. If it's too tight, the whole front will gape open between the buttons. That said, I took the advice of the previous reviewers, ordered 2 sizes up, and love the dress. It's not too short, I can wear a normal bra with it, and it's lined and very classic J. Crew. With all the weird cutouts of this season, I'm so thankful for this dress. I have a funeral to attend, and there are some places where midriff exposed, back out, under boob, too short, cut out clothes are NOT appropriate. J. Crew, what in the world happened this season? Do you know your target audience AT ALL?

This dress is so cute, but it does run very small. I wear a 6 or 8 in jcrew dresses and needed to order a 10 in this one. There actually was only a tiny difference between the 8 and 10, but the 10 fit better. The dress is made beautifully and the material is nice and dress is lined. I will wear it all summer with sneakers and sandals!! it is definitely worth the price if you can find the size that fits you!!
