Side-slit cotton poplin maxi skirt

I love this outfit (I also bought the matching top) but the skirt runs large. I wear a 10 & usually buy medium. If an item runs big I size down. I should have returned it for a small but needed it for an event so couldn’t go through all that mail delay time. The skirt is generous in terms of the volume of material as well as having pockets. It also has an elastic stretch waist band. It’s not a straight line cut skirt. All these factors make it a looser/baggier/bigger kind of fit. So I would advise sizing down. As it’s 100% thin cotton, I plan to wash it in hot water and use a hot setting on the dryer in order to shrink it. Otherwise it is a really cute and stylish summer ensemble.

I'm usually a size L (for reference purposes, I'm 5'9", about 185 - I blame Covid.., and am usually a size 14). I ordered down and the size M fit great. The overall fit is breezy, not tight. With my height, the length skims my feet. There are slits on both sides and it has pockets, which is always a great feature. The material is thin. Not quite see-through but thin. The color is so pretty. Cant wait until it finally warms up so that I can wear this out. I also bought the matching top. I ordered that in my usual size L (chest is 36DD).

Got the medium. It’s huge and will need to exchange for small. The color is pretty although it blends in with my skin a little. My concern is how wrinkled the skirt becomes from just having on for a few minutes while getting ready.
