Smocked-waist cotton poplin midi skirt

I'm 5'5", 150 lbs. I have a decently defined waist but a bit of a belly, and the long smocked top section of this skirt unfortunately emphasizes my paunch too much. No way am I tucking anything INTO this skirt. The price was a steal (50% off sale), so even though it was final sale, I doubled down and got both colors available at the time--the black, and a rusty mustardy bronze, which as it turns out is tough to match with tops in my wardrobe. This is a thin, stiff cotton poplin that juts out below the smocked section. Length is below the knee, but I'd prefer longer. Not exactly a smooth, flowing look. Still, for the price, I can't complain. I can make these skirts work, just not sure how often I'll actually wear them. If you have a slender midsection, though, you're likely to find this flattering and easier to wear. I've even seen pics of these yanked up and worn as dresses, with the smocking pulled over the bust. That doesn't work for me, I'm a 34DDD and the uniboob effect is tragic!

I look like a marshmallow in this skirt. There, I said it. I bought the white color. It puffs out so much. Not flattering at all. 135 lbs size XS. Material is slightly see thru as well.

I love the soft, but not thin, cotton fabric of this skirt and the design of it as well. It is very wearable and versatile. The only negative for me is that it runs small. If you keep that in mind and order accordingly, you won't want to miss out on this lovely skirt!

LOVE this simple skirt, I bought a few and I want more. I have been waiting for a pull on lightweight 100% cotton skirt that fell right below knee. elastic waistbands are where it's at no matter what shape or weight you are. ( I'm on thinner average build I would say). It's super flattering on me, and can be worn w short or long sleeve tee for casual or more fancy top. I like to match the top and bottoms for a more uniform streamline and simple style as that's how I dress. Thank you for minimalist pieces that are quality, hard to find. Please more styles like this, even thicker material for cooler temps. Everyone is different though, it many not be a great length for over 5'7" if you want totally below knee. True to size for me.

I am 5'7", 128 lbs., wear a 4 or 6 in J.Crew items, and have many of them! I ordered a Medium in this skirt in black - I wanted it to fit slightly large so I could wear it lower on my hips and perhaps get a little extra length that way. I actually worried it might look sacky. Well... it was like I was wearing a little girl's skirt! It was very tight in the elasticized area and barely covered my knees. And it is described as a midi? I do not understand such a huge discrepancy, and it does occasionally happen with J.Crew items, but not often, thankfully. It was an extra 40% off at the time (not 50%). Final sale, so off to the thrift shop it goes. :(

Very comfortable, I roll the waist band in half to wear as a skirt, and full as a dress/ beach cover up. Just the right amount of swing in the skirt while still keeping a slim profile. If only it had pockets! I am 160 lbs, 5’5”, athletic build, heavier middle and it is very flattering. Have the white and carmel.
