Going-places dress in shadow houndstooth print

Maybe this would be more flattering on a girl of different proportions. My build is long and lean without many curves. My abdomen is flat, and waist small, shoulders broad with long extremities. Unfortunately this dress made me look like I had a porkulant belly. Maybe the cut of the dress is designed for a less flat chested woman? I was hoping to get a professional classic dress. My other J Crew dresses typically deliver with quality and design.
