Academy penny loafers

Purchased these in size 8 medium width in the black and the burnished beet which is a cross between a dark brown and deep burgundy. They are gorgeous shoes, look very elegant on the feet, but they run narrow. I was able to stretch them to fit a bit more comfortably and it did work so I was able to wear them twice. But then I got the size 9 on sale and they fit so much better. These are not your grandma's penny loafers. They can be worn with any outfit and elevate it ( well maybe not a ballgown but who knows?). Very modern and well made. Size up if you are a true medium width. If you are a narrow width you could probably go with your normal size. Any doubt go up at least a half size. Love these!

This was my worst purchase ever. I was extremely excited to buy, because of the color. However, my excitement quickly changed to disappointment when I opened the box. They run very small. The are hard and stiff. I couldn’t even walk in them, because there was no bend or give to the material. If I did manage to walk, it is the kind of material the would crinkle and not in the cool worn leather way either. The worst part is, I used my J.crew reward on these. So if I returned, I would loss my discount. (insert sad emoji here) J.crew needs to me more consistent with shoe sizing.

I was excited to receive the shoes. They look nice however the fit was very tight. I have wider feet and the other J Crew style called “Ryan loafer” fits me well. For this shoes, I will have to hope that after I break them in, they will be worth it. Doubtful if it’s worth the suffering. I would return but I got them on final sale.
