“I gravitate toward vintage pieces that were designed to take a beating—vintage military, workwear, outdoors and sportswear—so I don’t have to be too precious with them. The more worn in they get, the better.”
Brian’s vintage buying tips
1.“Buy what you like, not what you think has value.”
2.“Look for pieces that are more or less ready to wear. Slight alterations are fair game, but anything that needs a lot of repair work can be a big (and possibly expensive) project.”
3.“If you like the thrill of the hunt, get out early and often. If you prefer an edit, find a vintage dealer whose aesthetic speaks to you and develop the relationship.”
4.“Embrace imperfections—a paint splatter, visible mend or mismatched button adds to the unique character of a vintage piece, making it truly one of a kind.”
5.“Remember that vintage clothing should be an extension of your personal style, not a costume.”

“Head-to-toe vintage looks from a specific period can have you looking like you walked off a movie set. Opt instead for pieces you already love—maybe a worn-in vintage sweatshirt, oxford cloth shirt or the perfect military jacket.”

“This collection was inspired by my childhood on the North Fork of Long Island. The nautical flags nod to summer nights I spent watching boat races around Robins Island from my grandparents’ porch, and days I spent swimming in the Peconic Bay. Everything is made in the USA, printed in Brooklyn and designed to get better with wear.”Shop the collab
